After washing and filling, jars on a production line were too wet to label satisfactorily.
Surface moisture ruins the appearance of the label and affects the adhesion onto the jar. Moisture trapped under the metal cap causes rusting during storage and transit causing customer complaints. This means slow line speeds to allow some natural drying.

Air knives mounted either side of the conveyor strip the moisture from the jars prior to labelling and packing.
